The Challenge
EXHIBITOR Magazine needed an identity for a new award program, the Portable Modular Awards. The award competition recognizes the best exhibit structures in the trade show industry.
My Process
My design was inspired by the metal framework that is the underlying foundation of exhibit structures. If you’ve ever seen a trade show exhibit without it’s graphics and walls, the bare frame can resemble a grid. During the process in building the exhibit, the walls and graphics seem to slide into place like a tangram puzzle.
The grid and triangle pattern I created was modifiable, as exhibit structures are, and became the brand identity across multiple customer touch points.
The Result
The design was so well received that I was asked to create additional promotional items beyond advertisements and graphics for the website. I designed a brochure that was handed out at the award ceremony and a slideshow template that was used to announce the winners during the event.
