As a member of this group I was honored to be tasked with this design challenge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>My Process<br \/>\n<\/strong>I start my logo designs with words. Armed with paper and pencil, I ask myself, &#8220;what are words I&#8217;d use to describe the UX Design Matters group?&#8221; I come up with adjectives that eventually turn into visual elements. Since UX Design Matters is a club\/organization, maybe a shield works as a symbol. I sketch out ideas and eliminate any that look too similar to logos I&#8217;ve seen before. The strongest, most intriguing ideas are refined in Adobe Illustrator.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-494 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/danamariadesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/UXDM_sketches.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"827\" height=\"620\" srcset=\"http:\/\/danamariadesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/UXDM_sketches.jpg 827w, http:\/\/danamariadesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/UXDM_sketches-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/danamariadesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/UXDM_sketches-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 827px) 100vw, 827px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Concept A:<\/strong> This concept plays with the double meaning of the word \u201cMatters\u201d. In context, \u201cMatters\u201d can refer to a topic of conversation or it can imply that something has value. A whiteboard or post-it notes are often used for sketching during UX design practice. I created the logo to resemble a hand drawn thought or idea.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-470 size-large alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/danamariadesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/UXDM-logo_conceptA-1024x447.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"820\" height=\"358\" srcset=\"http:\/\/danamariadesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/UXDM-logo_conceptA-1024x447.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/danamariadesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/UXDM-logo_conceptA-300x131.jpg 300w, http:\/\/danamariadesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/UXDM-logo_conceptA-768x336.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Concept B:<\/strong> In this concept I raised the question of \u201cshould UX be spelled out for an audience that may not be familiar with the acronym?\u201d Ultimately, the group realized that members had joined because they were already familiar with some aspect of UX.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-473 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/danamariadesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/UXDM-logo_conceptC-1024x274.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"820\" height=\"219\" srcset=\"http:\/\/danamariadesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/UXDM-logo_conceptC-1024x274.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/danamariadesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/UXDM-logo_conceptC-300x80.jpg 300w, http:\/\/danamariadesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/UXDM-logo_conceptC-768x206.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em><b>Concept C: <\/b>The winning design!\u00a0In this logo design I wanted to place emphasis on \u201cUX\u201d by playing with the\u00a0letterforms.
